Rustam Minnikhanov in Bugulma: You are an example for Tatarstan in terms of living standards and the quality of education

On February 7, in the afternoon, Tatartsan President Rustam Minnikhanov paid a working visit to Bugulma region of the republic to take part in a meeting of the local Council to sum up the results of social and economic development for 2017 and set tasks for 2018.

Upon his arrival in Bugulma, Minnikhanov visited the New Well Maintenance Technologies research and production enterprise. The plant has been operating for more than a quarter of a century in the market of equipment and measuring instruments for oil production technology. Since the moment of its establishment, the company has been specializing in the development, production and servicing of flow measurement tools for products produced from oil wells.

Minnikhanov was told about the production and demonstrated samples of the products. The plant’s senior managers informed him that today the goods are in demand from both Russian oil-producing companies and foreign oil companies (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus). Last year alone, the enterprise shipped products for almost one billion roubles. The plant employs about 260 people.

After that, Tatarstan President visited the renovated Yunost sports complex, where he looked around sports halls and talked to young athletes. Director of the complex said that currently there are seven departments in eight kinds of sports, including swimming, сarting, weightlifting and various kinds of martial arts.

Summing up the year at the session of the local Council held later on the same day, Minnikhanov noted that 2017 was a challenging year because of a number of factors, including the general geopolitical situation in the modern world: the sanctions regime, limited access to foreign capital and others. Moreover, Tatarstan had problems related to the banking crisis and changes in educational programmes. "Nevertheless, the republic is developing steadily. All the planned programmes have been implemented. The regional gross product exceeded 2 trillion 115 billion roubles, the industrial output made 2 trillion 250 billion roubles,” Tatarstan President said.

According to Minnikhanov, the main criterion for assessing the effectiveness of the work of authorities is the quality of life of people. Bugulma region is a recognized leader in Tatarstan in terms of living standards and the quality of education, Minnikhanov noted. At the same time, he drew attention to the need to develop the healthcare system in the region. The President reminded that a large programme to renovate the primary medical facilities is underway in the republic.  Minnikhanov gave an errand to consider the possibility of providing support for the renovation of the local central hospital and children's infectious diseases hospital that need repair. 

He underlined that Bugulma region has great potential in agriculture, but do not use it properly. "The daily gross yield of milk is only 23 tonnes. There are regions in which this figure is almost 10 times higher,” Minnikhanov stated and urged the local leadership to pay attention to these issues.

At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov handed in awards of the republic to the most distinguished representatives of the region.
