Rustam Minnikhanov meets Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Igor Orlov

On February 3, during his visit to the Arkhangelsk region, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the head of the region Igor Orlov.

Welcoming Tatarstan President, Orlov stressed that the regions have established partnership relations, which are backed by an agreement on cooperation, business and cultural contacts, and various events.

"Last year the Kazan submarine left the covered slipway.  Every year Sabantuy holiday is held in Arkhangelsk.  A unique event that will certainly go down in the history of the region and Islam in general will take place later on today.The most northern mosque was restored in a historical place," Orlov said.

In his turn, Minnikhanov thanked the Governor for creating the inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony in the region. Tatarstan President said that active construction and restoration of mosques and churches, including the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, is also under way in the republic.

"Our trade and economic relations are developing. The trade turnover between our regions makes 4 billion roubles, but the potential is great. We need to work in other areas, including shipbuilding, KAMAZ vehicles, petrochemical and food products from our side, and cellulose, cardboard, forestry and fishery products from your side. The potential of your region is huge, and there are opportunities for further growth of cooperation," Minnikhanov concluded.
