Rustam Minnikhanov and Nikolay Nikiforov open a logistics post centre in Kazan

On January 30, at the Kazan International Airport, with participation of Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Director General of the Russian Post Nikolay Podguzov, First Deputy Head of Federal Customs Service Ruslan Davydov and Tatarstan Ministry of information and Communications Roman Shaikhutdinov, the logistics post centre of Russian Post was launched in commercial operation.

The logistics post centre was built in 2016. One year later, processing of federal post was launched. Today, the centre is capable to receive international cargoes. Modern equipment makes it possible to process over one million postal items per day, including 150,000 parcels and international small packages. 

Upon their arrival at the logistics post centre, Minnikhanov, Nikiforov and other participants were demonstrated the process of unloading of postal items from the plane, which has arrived to Kazan from China. Then, the guests got acquainted with the work of the logistics centre, in particular, they were shown the site of international postal exchange, automatic sorting facility and the area of processing EMS mailings.

At the launching ceremony of the new centre, Nikiforov emphasized that Kazan logistics post centre complies with advanced international standards in its equipment. “The Centre is capable of operating with a significant number of international shipment, which pass here the customs clearance and is sent to six regions of Russia. That means faster and more direct route for parcels to the end consumers. We are building a unified logistics network. The volume of international packages has increased almost 15 times over the past five years. This is incredible growth. But it will increase in at least two-three times in the coming years,” Nikiforov said.

Minnikhanov emphasized that the new logistics centre is a unique object. “That is the additional workload of our airport, new employment opportunities, and the most important it is high-quality service, the people of our republic will receive. Totally, Tatarstan Pochtasy includes over 1100 departments,” Tatarstan President said.

Podgrudov said that it is planned to open five logistics centres in the country in the next couple years.
