Rustam Minnikhanov and Maksim Sokolov take part in a summing-up meeting of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the republic

On January 27, speaking at a summing-up meeting of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the republic in Naberezhnye Chelny, with participation of Russian Minister of Transport Maksim Sokolov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov highly appraised the activity of the agency during the preceding year,  pointed out the importance of this area for the republic.

Before the meeting, at the exhibition, Minister of Transport and Roads of the republic Lenar Safin introduced new modern units of street maintenance machines and road transport to Minnikhanov and Sokolov before the meeting.

Minnikhanov reminded that the complaints about the state of the roads take one of the first places among the other applications from citizens to People’s Control system.

Tatarstan President also said that the renovation of the section of the federal road M-7 Kazan –Naberezhnye Chelny is nearly over, but there is a weak link here, that is a dam. “Unfortunately, it does not provide road capacity and we are concerned about the state of the road surface of the dam. I appealed to the Russian President Vladimir Putin and explained that Kamsky cluster is the key point of the growth not only for the region. I think, there are no such points in Russia, which give triple increase in six-seven years,” Minnikhanov stated. He also made a request to the Russian Government to pay special attention to the massive cuts to the State traffic safety inspectorate. “There were 4657 road traffic accidents with 425 people dead last year. Maksim Yurievich, report about our concern. We will also send the letters. On the one hand, the Government aims to dramatically reduce the number of accidents and on the other hand, we cut the personnel, who work at the roads. Our request is to draw attention to this situation,” he concluded.

Sokolov reported on the plans of the agency for the current year. “In 2018, we are completing the first stage, when the main emphasis was to bring up to standard and eliminate at least half of the places of concentration of road accidents. The main emphasis on development of transport infrastructure and implementation of the project to improve the state of traffic system will be made in 2019,” the minister assured.

Minister of Transport and Roads of the republic informed about the launch of new flights from Kazan to Minsk, Tbilisi, Batumi and even to Armenia, Israel, Iran, China. It is planned to open a new flight from Begishevo airport to Dalaman. Possibly, the railway route from Kazan to Tashkent will be resumed.

At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov and Sokolov visited production sites of KAMAZ Automaker. Director General of KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogogin introduced to the guests modern production equipment and robotic machines for engine manufacturing.
