18.01.2018

On January 18, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the summing-up  meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan  on the results of the work in 2017.

In his speech Minnikhanov emphasized that safety of citizens and public order, reducing number of crimes committed in public places are the priority tasks of Tatarstan Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Tatarstan President noted that there are urgent issues of combating  illegal migration and weapons and drugs trafficking with regard to the forthcoming public political and sport events.

According to Minnikhanov, additional measures should be taken to improve the efficiency of investigative work on the channels of migration and tourism. We shall act not separately but as a united front in strong and consistent manner, in cooperation with the  Federal Security Service and other security forces, he said.

Issues of preventing violence committed by children and child neglect and homelessness require increased attention, he added and asked to strengthen the control over difficult families.

Minnikhanov said that fight against organized crime, one of the most pressing and complicated problems undermining security of State and society, remains relevant. There are dozens of torn apart organized criminal groups in the account of Tatarstan Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, the organized crime does not lose its positions, he said. The new young, angry and ambitious people try to take places of former criminals. “Your task is to prevent it. It is extremely important not to lose pace, save aggressiveness and effectiveness of measures in this area of work. Unfortunately, the departments of this direction of internal affairs authorities recently  suffer from insufficient staffing. Certainly, work in the internal affairs agencies is very complicated and requires great efforts. But if you have chosen this profession, you have to do everything possible to meet high standards of officers’ rank. The fight against organized crime must be systematic. I appeal for the fight against this scourge all law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Security Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs,  Prosecutor's office and Investigative Committee. As you smashed them in the nineties and zero years,” Minnikhanov said.

Tatarstan President focused on the fact that high technologies have become an instrument to commit fraud, theft, money counterfeiting, information theft.

At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov handed in state awards of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan to the most distinguished employees.
