Rustam Minnikhanov at the summing-up meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan: It is necessary to suppress seedlings of inter-ethnic discord and indicators of appearance of interreligious strife

On January 18, speaking at the summing-up meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the Ministry holds a special place in the  law enforcement system due to the complexity and the amount of tasks to be undertaken. The level of development of the economic and social fields, investment attractiveness of Tatarstan depends on the efficiency of the ministry’s work.  

Minnikhanov noted that the meeting is held in the period of difficult geopolitical environment. The past year was difficult for the Russian Federation and for the Republic of Tatarstan as well.

“These results were achieved on the background of difficult operational environment largely due to high professionalism, diligence, dedication of officers of  internal affairs agencies and interaction with law enforcement agencies,” Minnikhanov emphasized. “In general, the Ministry managed to fulfill the tasks. Crime rate in the region has remained lower than the average in Russia and Volga Federal District,” he continued.

Countering extremism, incitement to national and racial intolerance Minnikhanov called one of the most important and relevant activities.

He called on officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan together with colleagues from law enforcement agencies and the Armed Forces more actively implement the efficient working methods, prevent extremist behavior, promotion of violence, xenophobia and nationalism.
