Russian President Vladimir Putin holds a working meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov

On December 20, in Moscow, at his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov reported on measures taken to resolve the problems of defrauded housing equity holders and defrauded depositors. "We have set up a fund for depositors and have already begun to pay. This work is in progress,” Minnikhanov assured the President.

Minnikhanov continued that work with defrauded housing equity holders is also underway in the republic. "We are currently establishing a fund. We will help people with land and infrastructure. A federal fund is currently being established, but it is for the future. We will also help those who have ended up in difficult circumstances," he said.

Speaking about the economy of the region in general, Tatarstan President reported that the local authorities expect the gross regional product (GRP) and the index of industrial production to grow this year. "The agricultural production has increased by 5.5. per cent," Minnikhanov said in particular.

Minnikhanov also touched on the road construction and noted one of the projects. "This is a very good project - special topping for rural streets, where the traffic is not very heavy," he said, adding that the construction of such roads is much cheaper.

Tatarstan President also reported on the implementation of programmes to achieve key socio-economic indicators. "As for the May decrees, we have been fully executing them, reaching all the planned figures."
