Rustam Minnikhanov meets senior managers of KNAUF Company

On December 19, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with senior managers of KNAUF Company.

Germany is the leading strategic partner of the republic, Minnikhanov stressed during the meeting. Tatarstan President reminded that yesterday evening he visited Munich, where he took part in the signing of the contract between TAIF Group and Siemens Company.

In particular, Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan being Russian region is actively cooperating and developing contacts with such German lands as Bavaria, Saxony, Thuringia and others.

Over a nine-month period this year, the trade turnover with Germany has went up by 80 per cent as compared to the previous year, Minnikhanov said, adding that the amount of German accumulated investments has made about 1 billion euros.

“The products of your company are used at all our facilities,” Minnikhanov said addressing senior managers of KNAUF Company.

Discussing prospects for further cooperation, Minnikhanov said that as far as he knows developing its international business KNAUF agreed to acquire Armstrong Company (the USA), which has its facilities in the Alaguba Special Economic Zone in the republic.

In their turn, representatives of KNAUF said that the company has been working in the Russian market for a long time, employing about 5,000 people from Russia. The company is developing successfully and by merging with Armstrong Industry they have the opportunity to do business in Tatarstan, one of KNAUF’s representatives said. He added that they also acquired the company’s brand name.

The meeting also discussed issues related to current activities.
