On December 18 in the afternoon, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov arrived on a working visit in Munich (Germany) to take part in the signing of the turnkey contract between TAIF Investment and Production Company and Siemens Company for the construction of a power station for Nizhnekamskneftekhim Petrochemical Company in Tatarstan.
The contract was signed by Director General of Nizhnekamskneftekhim Azat Bikmurzin and President of Siemens Russia Dietrich Moeller. Minnikhanov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Affairs, Media, Energy and Technology of the land of Bavaria Ilse Aigner, Director Deneral of TAIF Group Albert Shigabutdinov and President of Siemens AG Joe Kaeser took part in the signing ceremony.
Under the signed contract Siemens will design, supply basic and auxiliary equipment, build and commission a combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 495 MW as an EPC contractor. The project will be implemented together with the Turkish ENKA Construction Company, being a subcontractor. Siemens will supply two gas turbines SGT5-2000E and one steam turbine SST-600, as well as equipment for energy distribution. The parties also preliminary agreed for a long-term maintenance of the main generating equipment of the station for a period of 13 years.
According to Shigabutdinov, TAIF Group and Siemens have had long-term business relations. As part of the ongoing modernization of electrical equipment at the enterprises of the TAIF Group, they are working together on the application of Siemens equipment and technology in different areas.
Speaking at today’s meeting, Minnikhanov noted that the cooperation with Siemens Company has yielded positive results. Minnikhanov also expressed his confidence that the signing of the contract will contribute to further active cooperation.
We are collaborating at the regional level, and have complete mutual understanding, Minnikhanov said. According to him, Tatarstan and the German business have serious contacts.
Over 10 months of this year, our trade turnover with Germany has grown by 80 per cent, Minnikhanov said. We are interested in further development of contracts, ready to support the German business that comes to the region with investments and technology, he continued.
In particular, Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan has been cooperating with Siemens Company in the sphere of power engineering, healthcare (supply of diagnostic equipment) and in the transport sector.
There are also a number of new projects, which we have to promote, Minnikhanov continued. According to him, Tatarstan is committed to long-term cooperation, attraction of advanced technologies, accelerated modernization of industry, growth of human resources, consolidation of positions of regional companies in foreign markets.
Minnikhanov also confirmed that this turnkey project for the construction of the power plant for Nizhnekamskneftekhim in Tatarstan will be fully supported by the regional leadership.
As for Nizhnekamskneftekhim, the new power engineering facility will provide safe, reliable and efficient energy supply to the company's production sites, Minnikhanov said. Siemens has great experience and modern technology, and this is particularly relevant with regard to global changes in the electricity production market. "The project is an example of modern solutions in all areas," Minnikhanov said.
