27.10.2017

On October 27, at the Kazanskaya Yarmarka Exhibtion Centre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to Volga Federal District Alexey Sukhov, Chairman of Partiarch’s Council for Culture Bishop Tikhon (Georgiy Shevkunov), Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan, Chairman of Spiritual Board of Muslims of Tatarstan Kamil Samugullin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and other officials took part in the opening of a multimedia historical park “Russia – My History”.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minnikhanov noted that the opening of the Kazan branch of the historical park "Russia - My History" is an important event in the life of the republic. Similar museum complexes are open in a number of regions of Russia and have already won wide public recognition, he stressed.

"To know and to respect the national history is one of the indicators of person's education and the basis of patriotism. Everyone who attends the museum exposition will be convinced that we live in a great country with an amazing history. One of the main advantages of the project is the demonstration of the inseparable unity of the history of Russia and its constituent republics, territories and regions,” Tatarstan President said.

He continued that the historical exhibition is primarily designed for the younger generation: "I am sure that this unique project will become an attraction point for people who are interested in the history of Tatarstan and Russia, a place for large-scale city, regional, educational and patriotic events, recreation and communication of the youth,” he noted.

Sukhov read out a welcome telegram on behalf of the Russian Presidential Administration. "It is symbolic that today, on the eve of the National Unity Day, the park “Russia - My History" opens in Kazan, which has played an important role in the formation of a united Russian nation and in bringing the peoples of Russia together," the telegram said.

In his turn Bishop Tikhon added that the history of the Tatar people is closely intertwined with that of Russia. "Our country became the successor of the Chinggisid Empire largely due to the ancestors of the current residents of Tatarstan. I hope that this historical park will become home and a place of friendliness and joint study of the history for many Kazan citizens," he said.

Then the honoured guests looked around exhibition expositions. The centuries-old history of Russia is demonstrated through touch tables, 3D screens, cinemas, audio guides. Covering a total area of 5,500 square meters, the multimedia exposition is divided into four thematical sections, such as “The Rurik Dynasty”, “The Romanov Dynasty”, “From Great Upheaval to the Great Victory,” “Russia – My History. 1945-2016.”

A separate place in the historical park is dedicated to the Tatarstan exposition, where the history of the Tatar national statehood and the republic, culture, and enlightenment from ancient times to nowadays are presented.
