Tatarstan President meets Prime Minister of Singapore

On October 3, during his working visit to Singapore, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong. Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Lee Hsien Loong for the opportunity to meet and perfect organization of the delegation’s itinerary.

The parties noted that strengthening of relations between Russia and Singapore is very important.

“Expansion of cooperation in many spheres, first of all, trade and economic cooperation, modernization and innovations, energy and management of special economic zones, training of management staff are in the limelight of both countries. It was also stressed at your meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the summit Russia-ASEAN in Sochi last year. Tatarstan pays much attention to expansion of contacts with Singapore in the context of relations between two countries. We are ready to take an active part in this process on regional level,” Minnikhanov said.  He added that the republic is one of the leading regions in Russia with rich history of relations with Singapore.

“Over the last few years I have met your father, first Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew many times. We had the honour to receive him in Tatarstan. I have visited Russia-Singapore business forum many times. I am always glad to see delegations from Singapore in the republic. These visits give impetus to the development of our mutual cooperation,” Minnikhanov said.

Rustam Minnikhanov told Lee Hsien Loong about social and economic situation in Tatarstan and discussed possible areas of cooperation with Singapore.  He also invited Prime Minister of Singapore to Kazan for more detailed familiarization with the republic.
