Reconstructed 11,3 – kilometer section of highway Kazan - Zelenodolsk has been put into operation in Tatarstan on September,3. RF Minister of transport Igor Levitin and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in official opening ceremony.

“I congratulate everyone on opening this section of the highway. Thank you for work! People need good roads”, - Igor Levitin thanked road builders. “Today we have opened a bridge across Vyatka river and now we are opening this reconstructed road. It was possible due to federal programs. All new roads are being constructed in accordance with the most advanced standards. All roads should be of the same quality”, - Rustam Minnikhanov addressed participants of the event.

After reconstruction the highway corresponds to category 1 B (two traffic lanes divided by the lawn). New road will reduce time spent on the way to Zelenodolsk by 20 minutes.

Zalesny – Safonovo section is the most loaded in Tatarstan (26 000 cars per 4 hours). 10 % of total number of accidents in republic go to this part of the road. Highway lighting and three pedestrian crossings will appear on the whole reconstructed section. This will let decreasing the accident rate.

Reconstruction has been accomplished since 2008. The project costs 1,14 bln. roubles. The rated speed is 120 km per hour.
