Rustam Minnikhanov visits festive concert during the 3rd Congress of the Peoples of Tatarstan

On April 22, at the Jalil Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin attended a festive concert, which marked the closure of the 3rd Congress of the Peoples of Tatarstan. 

Kazan demonstrated the best creative forces of the city and the republic to delegates of a large-scale forum, which brought together 730 representatives of national and cultural associations of Tatarstan and other Russian regions.

"In my understanding, it is a historic moment for the republic, when Tatarstan has gathered its best representatives of every nation to discuss today's life, tomorrow's life and ways to improve good-neighborly relations, strengthen our common family of fraternal peoples," Mukhametshin said in his welcoming speech. "I am grateful to our guests for their kind words addressed to the republic, its leadership and authorities."

"I sincerely would like to thank Russian President Vladimir Putin, who in his welcoming speech highly appreciated our work, peace and harmony, which we have achieved recently. The first part of the Congress was concluded by a thorough plenary report made by Tatarstan President," he said.

"We discussed issues of interethnic and interfaith relations, on which the economic and social sphere of the republic primarily depends. For the last 25 years, every home, every family has found a deep understanding of how important peace, harmony and edifying are,” Head of the regional parliament concluded.

Throughout the day delegates discussed topical issues of ethno-cultural development, interaction of civil society facilities with state authorities and local government. The decision to hold the Congress was taken by decree of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov on December 20, 2016.
