On August 22, during his working visit to Tatarstan, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev together with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Kazan Expo Exhibition Centre – the main venue of the WorldSkills Competition.

In the lobby of the Kazan-Expo Medvedev and Minnikhanov attended the stand of the Republic of Tatarstan, where they were shown a big screen video about the history of the WorldSkills Kazan-2019 and the preparations for the competition.

Medvedev also visited the stand of the Rosatom State Corporation, where the TeenPower youth educational platform was organized. Medvedev was informed that teenagers were involved in the creation of the platform. TeenPower is divided into several zones, including a lecture room, areas for communication and relaxation.

Also, the Russian Prime Minister and Tatarstan President looked around the competition site, in particular, they watched the competition among milling- machine operators.

After that, Medvedev had a meeting with members of the the WorldSkills-Russia national team.

According to Medvedev, despite the fact that Russia has joined the WorldSkills movement recently, our team has achieved significant success. “More recently, we were just starting our movement as part of the WorldSkills organization. It seemed that we were just taking the first steps, but the results that were shown by your predecessors turned out to be absolutely inspiring. It turns out we can do things and know how to do it,” he said.

The opening ceremony of the competition will take place today and the team’s success will depend on its members, the Prime Minister noted. “Although you are all young guys, you will represent our very large country. Of course, we will cheer for you. Therefore, I wish you success, good luck and maximum concentration. At the same time, I wish that you overcome excitement - the enemy of every achievement, including in these competitions.  Of course, a certain amount of excitement is not bad, but until you start your work,” he addressed the specialists.

“I can say on behalf of everyone who has gathered here today and, of course, on behalf of the Government of our country that we are counting on you. I wish you all great success. We will cheer for you. We hope that you will all become winners in just a few days. Good luck!”  Medvedev added.

Then, representatives of the Russian team handed in a team member badge to the Russian Prime Minister.
