Kazan project included in the finalists list of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2019

On April 25, at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Centre, on the sidelines of the 11th International Economic Summit “Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit-2019, Director of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture Farrokh Derakhshani said that the programme for the development of public spaces in Tatarstan was one of the 20 projects included in the finalists list of the Award in 2019.

The Aga Khan Award for Architecture is one of the oldest and largest architecture awards. The expert jury selects a wide variety of projects - from slum upgrading programmes to building “green” skyscrapers that not only have architectural significance, but increase the overall standard of living. The prize is awarded to architects, city administrations, construction teams, customers, specialists for certain types of work and engineers who have played an important role in the implementation of the project.

Minnikhanov looked around a special exposition dedicated to the Award. He was informed about the history of the award, the selection system of the participants and also about other projects included in the finalists list.

The ceremony of handing in the Aga Khan International Award for Architecture will be held in the Kazan Kremlin in September this year.
