Rustam Minnikhanov meets Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland Mika Lintilä

On December 4, during his working visit to Helsinki, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland Mika Lintilä.

Minnikhanov noted the systematic development of business contacts between Tatarstan and Finland as part of Russia-Finland relations. Finland is one of the leading foreign partners of Tatarstan. In 2017, the mutual trade reached 560 million US dollars, which is 1.5 times more than in 2016.

According to Tatarstan President, joint business forums and other events give a good impetus to the business community. Today, a number of Finnish companies are successfully working in Tatarstan and are involved in important socio-economic projects.

Tatarstan President outlined education, information and communication technology, transport and logistics, waste management and other spheres among the promising areas for further cooperation.

In his turn, the Finnish Minister stressed that Tatarstan has a large economic and investment potential, adding that the leadership of the republic and the business community are open to international cooperation. He thanked Minnikhanov for his attention paid to comprehensive cooperation with Finland and his support of Finnish investors.

Lintilä noted that today Finland focuses on energy saving and environmentally friendly production. He added that the World Circular Economy Forum, which is held in June, is dedicated to this topic. The Minister invited Tatarstan President to take part in this event.

Then, cooperation documents between the Kazan IT Technology Park and the Business Oulu (entrepreneurship development agency) were signed in the presence of Minnikhanov and Lintilä. Moreover, IT Park signed a cooperation agreement with the Helsinki Business Hub (investment agency).
