Rustam Minnikhanov calls Prime Minister of Egypt for developing cooperation with Tatarstan

On October 14, following the talks with President of Egypt in the Government House, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a working meeting with Prime Minister of Egypt Moustafa Madbouly in narrow and extended formats.

«We are sincerely glad that relations between Russia and Egypt are developing in a positive way and we are actively working to strengthen them at the regional level,” Tatarstan President said at the beginning of the meeting and briefed bout the republic as one of the leading and industrially developed regions of Russia. “We have a well-developed aircraft industry. We produce airplanes and helicopters. Our republic is the largest manufacturer of KAMAZ trucks. Moreover, we produce ships, gas pumping stations, compressors. We have the developed production of electronics and optics. We focus on the IT sphere, new materials, nano and bio-technology, and robotics. Tatarstan is one of the leaders of the agro-industrial complex and we produce the largest amount of milk in the country. We need to intensify work between the chambers of commerce and industry so that the manufacturers of our countries can quickly and easily sell their products,” he stressed.

Further, Minnikhanov made a short presentation of the annual International Economic Summit "Russia - the Islamic World: Kazan-Summit". He also touched upon issues of bilateral cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere. “Tatarstan and Egypt have agreements on inter-university cooperation. Today, a large number of students from Arab countries, including from Egypt, are studying in our universities. We would be glad to increase their number,” Tatarstan President continued.

Minnikhanov also talked about the interaction in the field of culture. Joint events are held in Tatarstan as part of the Days of Arab Culture and Egyptian films are traditionally shown at the annual Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema, he added.

Summing up the meeting, Minnikhanov thanked Moustafa Madbouly for his support in developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Tatarstan and Egypt as part of Russian-Egyptian relations and invited him to visit Tatarstan during his visit to Russia.
