On June 23, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated Tatarstan citizens on a national holiday Sabantuy.

“Dear citizens of Tatarstan!

From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on the most beloved and colourful Tatar holiday – Sabantuy!

Throughout its ancient history, it gained the unique traditions of the Tatar people, based on deep respect for the native language, rich culture and customs of ancestors. Sabantuy embodied our national character with its natural prowess, diligence, generosity and wide hospitality.

Sabantuy is, first of all, a holiday of grain growers, our respected village workers, who create the food welfare of the republic. We are sincerely grateful to you, dear friends, for your love and devotion to your native land and such hard, but noble work!

Everyone who has ever taken part in Sabantuy keeps in the heart the warmest memories of the inherent unique atmosphere of joy and good-neighborliness. Sabantuy, equally with the other national holidays, is a vivid example of peaceful coexistence and cultural mutual enrichment, which unites representatives of different ages, nationalities and religions.

It was encouraging that this year, not only the residents of Tatarstan and compatriots but also numerous guests of the World Cup will be able to join the traditions of celebrating Sabantuy.  Let the current Sabantuy give us all the most positive emotions and give new strength to creativity and creative work!
