On September 20, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the delegation of the Association of Italian Industrialists in Russia led by its President Ernesto Ferlenghi.

"We need to discuss opportunities for cooperation between our business circles as part of Russian-Italian relations. We understand that the geopolitical situation is not very favourable, but we need to continue to work and strengthen our business contacts," Minnikhanov emphasized.

Tatarstan President noted that the republic is actively interacting with a number of European countries, the volume of trade is growing. However, the indicators of mutual trade with Italy have decreased significantly, he continued.

"We have established good relations with such leading Italian companies as Pirelli, Ballestra, Tecnimont, Bazell, Intesa and many others," he said.

According to Minnikhanov, there is a great potential for increasing cooperation between Tatarstan and Italy, in particular, in the field of petrochemistry, IT technologies, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and others.

In his turn, Ernesto Ferlenghi noted that the Italian business is extremely annoyed that the EU has imposed restrictive measures against Russia.

Speaking at the meeting, representatives of several Italian companies announced possible areas of cooperation with Tatarstan.
