Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov unveils a monument to Tatar Poet Hadi Taktash

On August 30, on the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Vasil Shaikhraziev, Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Administration Asgat Safarov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Chairman of the Union of Writers of Tatarstan Danil Salikhov and other cultural figures took part in a solemn unveiling of the monument to the Tatar poet Hadi Taktash.

The monument is located in the park at the intersection of Salimzhanova and Hadi Taktash streets. The authors of the project are the Honored Artist of Russia Andrey Balashov, the People's Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan Asiya Minullina and the Honored Architect of the republic Herman Bakulin.

Congratulating the audience on the Day of the Republic, Minnikhanov noted that the monument to Hadi Taktash was erected as part of preparation for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the TASSR. It is planned to implement a set of measures to perpetuate the memory and popularize the names of outstanding creative and public figures of the republic till 2020.

"Hadi Taktash is an outstanding writer who made a great contribution to the development of Tatar poetry. He should be an example for young poets,” Tatarstan President said.
