Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in video-conference on increasing labour productivity and supporting employment

On August 28, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a video-conference on implementation of the priority programme aimed to increase labour productivity and support employment held by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov reported on measures implemented in the republic to increase labor productivity in all spheres of the economy and industry. In particular, he reminded that work on increasing labour productivity has been carried out for more than 10 years in the region, including introduction of lean production methods. Tatarstan was the first region in the country to develop a regional labour productivity programme. Moreover, the training of highly qualified personnel at resource centre (there are 25 resource centers in the republic) is underway. A modern infrastructure for business is being created, including technoparks, innovation centres, industrial sites. In particular, Minnikhanov noted, that the republic is focused on establishing industrial sites in municipal areas. A total of 62 such platforms have been created by now.

He continued that Tatarstan has gained experience in terms of increasing labour productivity. In particular, a competence centre was established at the Centre for Energy Saving Technologies. He also thanked the Minister for choosing Tatarstan as a pilot region. "We are ready to share our experience in this area with other regions," Tatarstan President said.

In his urn Oreshkin reminded that the development of the programme on increasing labour productivity and employment support started six months ago. The passport of this programme will be presented at a meeting of the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and Priority Projects in the near future.

Minister of Industry and Trade of the republic Albert Karimov reported in more details about measures implemented in the sphere of increasing labour productivity in Tatarstan.

He said that labour productivity is the main component of competitiveness and also noted that the experience of KAMAZ Automaker, which is a certified lean production company, is the most interesting.

Karimov also noted that more than 160 enterprises of Tatarstan are using lean production technologies in their activities.
