Rustam Minnikhanov meets Governor of Irkutsk region Sergey Levchenko

On August 26, during his working visit to Irkutsk, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Governor of Irkutsk region Segey Levchenko.

Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Vasil Shaikhraziev, Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov and Aide to Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, Levchenko thanked Minnikhanov for a high level of organization of the visit of the delegation of Irkutsk region to Tatarstan on 11 and 12 of August, 2017. "We have learned a lot from getting acquainted with the facilities you showed us in the republic. This includes industry, social sphere, and infrastructure solutions,” the Governor said.

The Governor continued that Irkutsk region and Tatarstan have a lot in common, including a great number of various ties, points for development of cooperation. Levchenko noted the exchange of experience in the sphere of cluster development, creation of industrial infrastructure, implementation of state programmes, tourism and culture as promising areas. 

In hist turn Minnikhanov thanked Sergey Levchenko for his hospitality. He stressed that Tatarstan and Irkutsk region have a great potential for developing interregional cooperation. This year, an agreement on cooperation was signed and a roadmap for its implementation was worked out, he added.

As noted at the meeting the total trade turnover between the regions amounts to 4.5 billion roubles. However, according to Minnikhanov, there are a lot of opportunities to boost this indicator. He suggested organizing mutual visits of business delegations.

Tatarstan President stressed that development of industrial cooperation between enterprises of Tatarstan and Irkutsk region in the sphere of aircraft construction is of particular importance. "MC-21 is a modern high-class aircraft that meets all the requirements of the aviation market. The cooperation between our enterprises within this large-scale project will allow us to have closer ties in this sector," he said.

Minnikhanov appreciated the work of the regional leadership in the development of the urban environment. He also thanked Levchenko for supporting local Tatars.

During his meeting with journalists, Minnikhanov also touched upon the topic of cooperation in the aviation industry. "We will discuss the possibilities of Tatarstan and Irkutsk region in the field of aviation cooperation. Our delegation includes representatives of the factories that participate in the MC-21 project. This is a unique project for our country and we will also take part in it," he said.

Levchenko noted that a number of Tatarstan enterprises have close relations with the local industry. "We supply cellulose to Tatarstan, from which different products are made. We have quite similar industry enterprises in the field of chemistry, petrochemistry, where we have the opportunity to cooperate. Moreover, our forestry complex supplies our products to all Russian regions, including Tatarstan. We agreed that we will also cooperate in terms of production of chemical and forest products. Also, Tatarstan is seriously engaged in development of innovative technologies. This is an example for all regions that could make such advanced products. I think we will learn from this experience,” the Governor of Irkutsk region added.
