Rustam Minnikhanov inspects a building to house new Tatar Cultural Centre in Moscow

On August 17, during his working visit to Moscow, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov inspected a building which will house a new Tatar Cultural Centre (Veshnyaki District of Eastern Administrative Okrug of Moscow).

Together with Minnikhanov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Marat Khusnullin took part in the inspection of the facility.

Minnikhanov and persons accompanying him discussed plans for the reconstruction of the facility and the concept of using it. As noted at the meeting, the new Tatar Cultural Centre should become a point of attraction for residents of the district and children of different ethnic groups. It is expected that creative teams, language courses will be located in the new multi-functional centre.

Later on the same day, a working meeting attended by Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Utilities of the republic Irek Fayzullin, Aide to Tatarstan President Leila Fazleeva, representatives of Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and representatives of the Veshnyaki district administration was held.

In 2016 it was decided to establish one more Tatar cultural centre in Moscow. With the assistance of the Moscow Government, the Entuziast cinema (built in 1977) was chosen from four proposed options.  The development of the ideology of the project is currently underway.

The facility to house the Tatar cultural centre will be handed over to the Tatarstan Cultural Heritage Centre for the free use for a period of ten years.
