On August 11, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Governor of Irkutsk region Sergey Levchenko.
Opening the meeting, Minnikhanov thanked Levchenko for his interest in Tatarstan and continued focusing on issues of bilateral cooperation.
Minnikhanov reminded that an agreement on cooperation and a plan for its implementation were signed between Tatarstan and Irkutsk region this year. "We should strengthen interaction between our regions, primarily in the trade and economic sphere. I hope that mutual visits of our delegations will give this process substantial dynamics," he said.
Tatarstan President stressed that today there are a number of promising areas for cooperation and exchange of experience in the fields of economy, industry, high technologies, agriculture and other spheres.
He continued that Tatarstan has good experience in the development of e-government, online services, the Safe City system. A lot of work is being done in the sphere of energy and resource saving, improving the efficiency of housing and utilities and developing the urban environment, Minnikhanov went on to say.
According to Tatarstan President, the development of ties in the sphere of culture, science, education, sports and tourism is of great importance too.
Irkutsk region and Tatarstan have a strong scientific, technical and technological potential, Minnikhanov noted, which makes it possible to increase interaction in the field of knowledge-intensive production. "We pay a lot of attention to the development of oil refining, petrochemistry, machine building, aircraft construction, helicopter building, automotive industry, IT technologies, medicine and pharmaceuticals," Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President also told Sergey Levchenko about the leading sectors of the economy that largely determine the socio-economic situation in the republic: oil production and refining, petrochemicals, machine building, agriculture and others.
In his turn Levchenko noted that inter-regional trade turnover between Tatarstan and Irkutsk region exceeds four billion roubles. However, according to Governor, there is a great potential for increasing this indicator.
Minnikhanov also added that Irkutsk region is a big market for machine-building and aviation products of Tatarstan.
