Rustam Minnikhanov was reported on the Clean Banks campaign in Tatarstan

On July 7, during a video-conference with participation of all municipalities of the republic, First Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan Rustem Kamalov reported to Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov on the Clean Banks campaign in Tatarstan.

Kamalov said that the campaign started on the 1st of July and is timed to coincide with the Year of Ecology in Russia and the Year of Ecology and Public Spaces in Tatarstan.

The Clean Banks campaign is relevant for the region because Tatarstan ranks first in Volga Federal District in terms of water area of rivers and lakes. In total, there are 36,000 water bodies in the republic.

"Water expanses are our wealth, and we need to take care of them. "We must not only maintain, but also improve them. This includes work on the improvement of embankments, recreational areas for citizens, places for mass bathing and other water areas," Minnikhanov said speaking at the meeting.
