Rustam Minnikhanov meets President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov during his working visit to Ashkhabad

On June 29, during his working visit to Ashkhabad, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. They discussed issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan as one of rapidly developing Russian regions. Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated   Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on his 60th anniversary and wished him health, and success in implementation of plans, happiness and wellbeing. Minnikhanov noted that the productive cooperation with Turkmenistan is important for Tatarstan that supports the policy aimed at progress, peace and economic prosperity.

Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov noted that bilateral cooperation is very productive and based on long-standing connections, cultural and spiritual common interests and successfully developing dialogue with the Russian Federation.

Minnikhanov continued that he considers Turkmenistan a reliable and prospective partner.

The parties exchanged opinions about new opportunities of diversification of cooperation between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan. Among the priority areas are fuel and energy, trade and economic sectors, agriculture, and tourism. Special attention was paid to expansion of supplies of Turkmen products to Kazan, and products of Tatarstan industrial enterprises to Turkmenistan.   

Also, the sphere of sport is important in the context of preparation for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games that will be held in Ashkhabad in September 2017.
