Head of the Russian Ministry of Ecology Sergey Donskoi opens session of the Federal ecological council in Kazan

On June 10, Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Sergey Donskoi opened the 7th session of the Federal ecological council in Kazan. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage Artem Sidorov took part in the session.

The plan of actions for the Year of ecology (the order of the Russian Government №1082 dated as of 02.06.2016) includes 234 events in 8 areas: waste treatment, regulation of environmental impact, and introduction of the best available technologies, water, forests, the Baikal Natural Territory, the Arctic region and climate, special protection wildlife, and ecological education.   

Welcoming the audience, Donskoi said that when the Year of ecology was being planned it was important to draw attention to ecological problems and achieve certain results. As for the Republic of Tatarstan, the region demonstrates high rates of economic growth along with the compensation of man-caused load. Therefore, environmental deterioration is not observed.

Donskoi informed that the State programme “Environmental protection, reproduction and usage of natural resources of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2014-2020” is implemented in Tatarstan.

The funds are also spent on the development of monitoring of ecological situation.

The Minister noted that Tatarstan environmental inspectors were provided with all necessary equipment (motor boats, unmanned aircrafts, etc) , which enabled revealing violations effectively.

About 97 per cent of 7,000 violations were corrected.
