On May 20, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev visited festive events dedicated to the Day of official adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria in Bolgar.

Upon arrival Minnikhanov and Shaimiev inspected the construction of Kul Gali hotel complex that will comprise SPA, swimming pool, tennis court, parking, basketball court and children’s playground.

The reconstruction of the historical banya (the White Chamber) makes the project special.

The president addressed builders with requirement to finish the construction works by the end of summer this year.

Later on, Minnikhanov and Shaimiev visited Bolgar Islamic Academy. The guests were told about construction works and saw finished facilities of the future educational center. A traditional meeting with Muslim religious leaders was held at the reading hall.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted the team work of all involved organizations, and expressed special gratitude to Mintimer Shaimiev for his significant contribution to the implementation of this project.

He continued that the Islamic world is facing challenges connected with activity of extremist organizations that hide behind the religion for political purposes today. He reminded that the creation of the academy is a federal project that was supported by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Chairman of Muslim religious board of the Republic of Tatarstan Kamil hazrat Samigullin, Chairman of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia Talgat Hazrat Tadzhuddin, and other officials took part in the meeting.
