Rustam Minnikhanov: We should keep memory of veterans of World War II for next generations

On May 8, in the Government house of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the 72nd anniversary of Victory in World War II.

"Last-minute preparations for events to mark the Great Victory Day are underway in all regions and cities of the republic. Obelisks, monuments have been put in order, meetings with veterans have been held in every settlement. A lot of work is being carried out in the sphere of health care and social protection. I want to express special gratitude to heads of enterprises who also take care of their veterans,” Tatarstan President said in his opening speech.

"Our task is to keep memory of war veterans and home front workers for next generations," Minnikhanov said.

Making a keynote report at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Vasil Shaikhraziev said that there are 54,844 veterans of World War II and widows of deceased veterans, as well as 2,553 participants and disabled war veterans in Tatarstan.

Shaikhraziev continued to report that active work to provide veterans with comfortable housing is underway in the republic. According to the speaker, much attention is paid to providing social services to veterans of World War II.
