Four people killed on the water since the beginning of 2017

On May 2, speaking at a briefing at the Government House of the republic, Chief State Inspector for Small Vessels in Tatarstan Yuri Venediktov said that in order to ensure public safety in recreation places, rescue stations and ambulance service need to be organized there.

The briefing discussed the safety on the water in the republic and the navigation of small vessels.

Venediktov noted that in some regions of the republic rescue stations have already been set up and due to them it is possible to solve the problem of public safety on the water.

Speaking at the meeting, Venediktov told journalists about statistics on accidents and those have been killed on the water since the beginning of this year.

In particular, he said that as of May 1, since the beginning of the year nine water accidents have been registered in the republic (21 accidents for the same period last year) – a 57 per cent decrease; four people have been killed (11 people, including one child in 2016) - a 63 per cent decrease; 12 people have been rescued (15 people for the same period last year) – a 20 per cent decrease.
