Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan and Ulyanovsk Region have historically had good neighborly relations

On April 21, during the Forum of the Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Governor of Ukyanovsk Region Sergey Morozov.

Welcoming the guests, Minnikhanov noted that the role and possibilities of consumer cooperation are underestimated today. According to him, this organization has never had and will not have an alternative, and this system should work in rural regions. "Unfortunately,without participation of the authorities at the regional level, without government support the system of consumer cooperation is not working properly," Minnikhanov said.

Speaking about interregional cooperation with Ulyanovsk Region, Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan and Ulyanovsk Region have historically had good neighborly relations. We have common borders, many joint interests, as well as at the level of territorial development, in the economy, in the environment, and in public projects, Minnikhanov told Morozov.

Tatarstan President also reminded that a lot of investment projects are being implemented in both regions today, and this also motivates to work more actively.

"About 150,000 Tatars live in Ulyanovsk region," Minnikhanov reminded. “We know that regional senior officials supports them, and you personally participate in their activities,” he continued. "In general, all conditions for the development and observance of interests of representatives of all nationalities have been created in the region."

In his turn, Morozov briefed about the work carried out in the region in the field of economy, social sphere, and investment activity. "We have great potential to expand our cooperation," he said. “We have an understanding in terms of our joint work. We are interested in cooperation in all spheres of the economy, in particular, it concerns the aviation and machine-building cluster. "
