Rustam Minnikhanov inspects cultural heritage sites in the historic centre of Kazan

On April 4, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov inspected a number of cultural heritage sites in the historical centre of Kazan.

The Residential House built in 1840 on Bolshaya Krasnaya Street was the first site the President inspected. This two-story mansion was recreated by the order of the investor OOO “White Bear”. The historical and archival research, carried out during the preparation of the reconstruction project, helped to reveal unpublished archival materials and to restore the building accurately and in scale. Minnikhanov looked around the building, got acquainted with the stages of restoration works, and inspected the internal premises with the enfilade layout. Aide to Tatarstan President Olesya Baltusova and Scientific Coordinator of the restoration project Farida Zabirova gave their explanations during the inspection.

Then, Minnikhanov headed for a complex of facilities located in between Rahmatullin - Kavi Najmi - Profsoyuznaya - Musa Jalil streets. The site of federal significance, the house in which Nikolai Bauman was born in 1873 and lived, the object of regional significance, “Piskunov's House, 1841”, the site of cultural heritage of federal (national) significance “Building of the Noble Assembly Hotel”, 18th century, and other historical buildings are located in this historic quarter. Today, all buildings are in a critical condition, they have no walls, roofs, ceilings, etc. The inspection revealed that some of the foundation structures have critical defects and damages, and work to strengthen the foundations is required.

Minnikhanov noted that he was inspecting these facilities for the fourth time. Decisions about what to do with the objects have not yet been found, and the complex of the National Library of the RT was not possible to place there.  We need to find a solution, otherwise the buildings will be completely destroyed, he said.

The third object of today's inspection was the construction site for an administrative building on 71, Volkov Street. The general contractor of the facility is ZAO “Zheldoripoteka”. It is planned to build a 5-storey building with an underground parking.

Minnikhanov got acquainted with the project on site and also asked the developer about the availability of funds to finance the project. In general, the project was approved.
