Members of Tatarstan State Council approve report on activities of regional government agencies in 2016

On March 21, at its meeting the State Council of Tatarstan considered a report on the activities of regional government agencies in 2016 .

Making a keynote report on this issue, Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov said, in particular, that in 2016 the activities of the Government of the republic were aimed at solving the main tasks stipulated by the Strategy of Social and Economic Development of the republic until 2030. Last year, all 45 municipal strategies were adopted, the branch ministries approved their long-term plans.

Tatarstan still remains the leading region on main macroeconomic indicators. In terms of gross regional product the republic ranks 6th among Russian regions, in agriculture and the volume of investments in fixed assets it takes the third place, and in industrial production and construction it ranks the fifth. 

Over the last years, Tatarstan has consistently been among the most attractive regions for investment, being ranked the first according to the results of the National Rating of the Investment Climate of the Regions of the Russian Federation, developed by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives for Promotion of New Projects two years in a row.

In 2016, the growth rate of the gross regional product made 102.5 per cent to the last year's level. The volume of the gross regional product reached 1,944.1 billion roubles in 2016. Industry, agriculture, and construction had a positive impact on general economic dynamics.

As a result of their discussion, people's deputies approved the report on the work of Tatarstan Government made by Khalikov.

Members of the regional council also considered a report on the activities of the Commissioner for Children's Rights and the observance of the rights and legitimate interests of children in Tatarstan in 2016, as well as a number of regional bills and draft laws.
