On March 9, speaking at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the training of teachers remains an important and relevant task of the educational sphere of Tatarstan.

In his welcoming speech, Minnikhanov said that before the meeting he had visited some university buildings, where serious reconstruction works are currently underway. He particularly noted facilities of the medical cluster.

Minnikhanov also touched upon innovations in the sphere of humanities and pedagogics. For example, the Center for Islamic Studies was established at the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies, where major joint work with representatives of religious and public organizations, law enforcement agencies and correctional facilities is being carried out. It is expected that the Center will help prevent the penetration of radical Islamic trends into the republic.

Tatarstan President added that the required infrastructure for training teachers of different areas was created at the Institute of Psychology and Education to develop a unified approach to the training of specialists. The university is actively modernizing its scientific and educational campus, he continued.

The retraining and advanced training of teachers is one of the most important issues in the field of the educational system of the republic, Minnikhanov said. "The world is on the eve of the fourth industrial revolution. We are witnessing outstanding technological remorms. These processes, in their turn, dictate us new requirements. We should meet these challenges in all areas, including education. Therefore, the retraining and advanced training of teachers is of special significance. Setting up a center for the retraining of the regional pedagogical staff at the KFU will be an important step in this area," Minnikhanov emphasized.
