Rustam Minnikhanov: Education plays an important role in social and economic development of Tatarstan

On March 3, speaking at a panel discussion "Human potential is a key resource for the development of Russian regions" during the EDU Russia Forum, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that education plays an important role in social and economic development of Tatarstan. The Strategy of Social and Economic Development of Tatarstan till 2030, the republic has adopted, is based on powerful educational potential and envisages cooperation between science, production and real sector of economy, he added. 

Deputy Minister of Education of Russia Pavel Zenkovich, Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Director Generalof the Union “Agency of development of professional communities and skilled workers WorldSkills Russia” Robert Urazov. Minister of Education and Science of the republic Engel Fattakhov, Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov, teachers from 35 Russian regions and 8 countries took part in the event. Editor-in-chief of Teacher's Newspaper  Peter Polozhevets was the moderator of the discussion.

Opening the panel discussion, Polozhevets said that the forum is dedicated to issues related to the functioning and development of all levels of education. Breakout sessions are focused on the discussion of various aspects of the Russian education system and on how to apply best international managerial experience in our country to improve the efficiency of educational activities, he continued.

In his welcoming speech, Minnikhanov note that the need to create an international platform in the republic to exchange experience and attract the best managerial practices in the field of education has been discussed for a long time. "I hope this forum will prove to be effective and we will hold it every year," he said addressing forum participants.

Minnikhanov also said that to develop the education sector it is necessary to actively use technological innovations and to learn the advanced experience of foreign countries.
