Rustam Minnikhanov meets Hungary's Minister of National Development Miklós Seszták

On March 2, at his meeting with Hungary's Minister of National Development Miklós Seszták Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that development of trade relations with Hungary will allow Tatarstan to secure a foothold in EU markets.

Welcoming the guests in Kazan, Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to senior officials of Russia and Hungary for attention they pay to the development of interregional cooperation.

"Today, Tatarstan and Hungary have good relations. However, the level of trade turnover is lower than we would like it to be. I hope that we will be able to reverse the tend. We are making every effort to do this,” the President said.

“We are interested in expanding the product range and volume of trade and implementing joint projects with your country. We would like Hungarian companies to choose Tatarstan as a starting platform to do business in Russia. We should intensify our efforts in this regard,” Minnikhanov said.

According to him, participation of Hungarian investors in the construction of Agromir-Kazan Wholesale Distribution Centre can be one of examples of successful Tatarstan-Hungary cooperation.

Minnikhanov said that petrochemical industry, engineering, production of vehicles and vehicle components, cooperation in the field of medical and pharmaceutical industry, agriculture and food, tourism and education, exchange of students in particular, are among other promising areas of cooperation.

In his turn, Miklós Seszták congratulated Rustam Minnikhanov on his 60th anniversary and conveyed good wishes on behalf of the Hungarian leadership.

As for prospects of Tatarstan-Hungary cooperation, he said that Hungary is interested in the Agromir-Kazan project and is ready to participate in the programme in any form convenient for Tatarstan.
