Rustam Minnikhanov emphasizes the need for further development of environmental education of Tatarstan schoolchildren

On March 1, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov attended a lesson of ecology, which was held in Gymnasium No. 3 in Kazan as part of regional action "Ecology Lesson". 

Speaking at the event, Minnikhanov  emphasized the need for further development of environmental education of Tatarstan schoolchildren.

“We have technical, chemistry, and physics lyceums. There has to be an ecological lyceum,”  Minnikhanov said. He also added that  Director of  Gymnasium №3 plans to create an environmental class in one of the school's buildings. “It will be possible to promote these developments in our other schools taking yours as an example”, he added. 

Kazan schoolchildren, winners of regional and Russian environmental competitions, presented their ecological projects. Besides, Minnikhanov got acquainted with the School Eco-Patrol and Eco-City programmes.

Tatarstan President emphasized the importance of such projects for Tatarstan. “The environment is a special quality of life. Neither medicine nor sports will help if our environment does not meet the right criteria. I believe that this is very important. All these issues must be considered from childhood, from school," he concluded. 

Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources Usage Artem Sidorov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiyev, Head of Tatarstan Department of Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage Farit Khairutdinov, Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Engel Fattakhov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin took part in the event.
