Tatarstan and Irkutsk Region sign cooperation agreement in Sochi

On February 28, during his working visit to Sochi, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov looked around exposition stands at the Russian Investment Forum “Sochi-2017”. In particular, he attended the exhibition stands of the Krasnodar Territory, Moscow, the Republic of Adygea, where he got familiarized with some of the most interesting projects.

Traditionally,Tatarstan presents an interactive display stand at the forum. The engineering cluster is the main focus this year. In particular, visitors can get acquainted with such projects being implemented in the republic as the Kama Innovative Territorial and Production Cluster "InnoKam" and others. 

At his working meeting with Governor of the Irkutsk Region Sergey Levchenko, Minnikhanov thanked the Governor for the initiative in preparing  a cooperation agreement between the regions. According to him, the document will contribute to further strengthening of interregional ties. 

Minnikhanov reminded that he visited Irkutsk in 2011 to take part in the Baikal International Economic Forum. In April 2016, Sergei Levchenko paid a visit to Kazan to participate in the meeting of the Russian Presidential Council for Development of Physical Culture and Sports.

Minnikhanov continued that the trade turnover between the Irkutsk region and Tatarstan exceeds four billion roubles. The regions have the potential to expand supplies of trucks and agricultural machinery, engineering and petrochemical products and medicines. There are good opportunities for cooperation in the field of industry, agriculture, high technologies.

Tatarstan President noted that the republic has gained good experience in introduction of information technologies in different spheres of economy and public administration. Much work is being done in the field of energy saving, improving the efficiency of housing and utilities, developing urban environment. Moreover, the republic has the experience in forming investment infrastructure, attracting investors, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, introducing advanced technologies in agriculture, creating personnel management system, developing tourism.

Minnikhanov said that he believes that the Irkutsk region and Tatarstan have a powerful scientific, technical and technological potential.

Tatarstan President  thanked the leadership of the Irkutsk region for supporting the Tatar community. The region is home to more than 30,000 Tatars, he added. 

In his turn has confirmed the interest in cooperation. I am satisfied with our joint work within the framework of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia, which you head, he said.

At the end of the meeting an agreement was signed between the Government of Tatarstan and the Government of the Irkutsk Region on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, social, cultural and other spheres, which will be valid for five years.
