On February 28, during the 16th Russian Investment Forum “Sochi-2017”, the name of the first Ambassador of the Worldskills Kazan-2019 Competition was announced. The honour to become the first Ambassador was awarded to Russian restaurateur Arkady Novikov.

Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Director General of the “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” Union Robert Urazov took part in a solemn ceremony.

Welcoming participants of the event, Golodets reminded that two years ago as a result of tough competition Kazan won the bid to host Worldskills Competition in 2019. Paris (France) and Charleroi (Belgium) fought for the right to hold this event.

Minnikhanov said that the main task today is not only holding the Worldskills Competition in 2019 at the highest level but showing good results at it. Much work is being done in Tatarstan for this purpose, he said. "Recent results of EuroSkills-2016 Championship, which was held in Sweden, showed that we have the potential. I am sure that with such ambassadors our results will be even better," he said.

Tatarstan President also noted that the International Exhibition Centre "Kazan Expo" is being built in Kazan specially for the world championship.

Speaking at the event, Urazov expressed his gratitude to Arkady Novikov.  In his turn, Novikov thanked for giving credence to him. "It is a great responsibility to me. I will try to be an ambassador, but not a "very important personage”. I will try to promote the profession of a chef and a restaurateur, as well as other professions by my personal example," he said.
