Rustam Minnikhanov: The republic is open for cooperation with foreign investors and implementation of joint projects based on partnership banking principles

On February 8, at his meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Bandar Hajjar, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov discussed implementation of partnership banking systems that meet requirements of the Islamic legislation.

“The development of cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank aimed at strengthening of relations between Russia and OIC is very important for us. We have good long-term relations with the Islamic Development Bank,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

“Currently the Islamic Development Bank cooperates with four Russian banks. We will be grateful if you could provide us with necessary information about potential areas of cooperation. We are ready to sign any memorandums and agreements. Every year the Islamic Development Bank invests 5 bln US dollars around the world. I am sure that there are interesting projects in Russia and Tatarstan. Representatives of our bank were invited to KazanSummit ,” Bandar Hajjar said.

During the meeting the parties noted the growing importance of the Islamic or partnership banking for Tatarstan and Russian economy.

Representatives of the Islamic Development Bank presented areas of financial activity of the bank, and its grant support programmes for those who study Islamic economy.

At the end of the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to Bandar Hajjar for hospitality and invited him to Kazan during the official visit to Russia.
