Rustam Minnikhanov holds session of regional organizing committee for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017

On January 30, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held the first session of regional organizing committee for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 at Tatarstan Government House.

Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that the decree on changes to the membership and regulations of the organizing committee was signed last week.

The integrated action plan of the committee on holding forthcoming matches in Kazan was considered today.

Minnikhanov stressed that the preparation of sports venues is carried out in accordance with the regional programme. At some venues works have been completed. Works on construction of infrastructure have started at Kazan-Arena stadium.

Tatarstan Minister of youth affairs and sport Vladimir Leonov, Director General of ANO “Directorate of sport and social projects” Azat Kadyrov made reports at the session.

Leonov noted that 500 days are left till the beginning of FIFA World Cup 2018 and 137 days till the beginning of Confederations Cup 2017. Also, a meeting on preparation for Confederations Cup and test matches was recently held at Russian Ministry of Sport.

Leonov informed that four matches and semi-final will be held in Kazan. Fans and city dwellers are showing a great interest in these matches and the city of Kazan, he added.

Also, Leonov noted that safety measures should be provided in general, and especially close to hotels where football fans will be staying.
