On September 1, at his meeting with activists of Nizhnekamsk region, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said the state of the regional as well as national economy greatly depends on efforts of Nizhnekamsk citizens.

Making a brief report on the economic development of the republic, Mayor of Nizhnekamsk and Head of Nizhnekamsk region Aidar Metshin stressed that all the results have been achieved due to the support of the regional authorities and especially thanked Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov for this.

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov said that Nizhnekamsk is one of the largest industrial centers not only in Tatarstan, but in the whole country. “In the short and medium term, we see the growth points of our economy in those production facilities that are located in Nizhnekamsk," Minnikhanov said.

He paid tribute to predecessors who laid the foundation of a petrochemical complex in Nizhnekamsk. "All that we have now did not appear out of nowhere. This is the result of great work done by our predecessors, and we should remember this," Rustam Minnikhanov continued.

Speaking about the economic development of Tatarstan, he noted that the situation is now complicated. The regional industry is 50 per cent export-oriented and foreign markets are in stagnation, he said. According to Minnihanov, it is time to seek new markets abroad and in Russia.

"Our country will be strong only if it has strong economy," Rustam Minnikhanov stressed.

"Why is Tatarstan successful? Because Tatarstan is united. We all, authorities and businessmen, are focused on one task. We want our republic to become better. A successful development is possible only if all people live in peace and harmony," he added.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Nizhnekamsk citizens for their work. "Nizhnekamsk is the backbone of our republic, the most powerful region. Thank you. I am sure that further prosperity of our country and republic will in many respects depend on your efforts,” Tatarstan President said speaking to participants of the meeting.
