On January 21, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who is on a working visit to Switzerland to take part in the World Economic Forum in Davos, had a meeting with President of the National University of Singapore Tan Eng Chye.
Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan is developing cooperation with Singapore in a number of areas, including info-communication technology, urban planning, landscaping, and attracting investments. The republic pays much attention to the development of education and training of highly qualified personnel, Tatarstan President stated.
Minnikhanov noted that today the School of Computing of the University of Singapore is one of the most important partners of the Innopolis University. In 2014, the universities signed the agreement on cooperation in the field of education and science. Events to organize the mobility of students and guest lectures by professors were held. Innopolis University also organized training for Russian civil servants with the involvement of speakers from the University of Singapore. “I am sure the interaction potential of our universities is much higher,” Tatarstan President added.
During the meeting, Minnikhanov and Tan Eng Chye discussed ways of enhancing cooperation and considered prospects for master's and postgraduate programmes, academic exchange of students and professors, and joint scientific research.
