On August 27, at their meeting at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Governor of the Novgorod Region Andrei Nikitin, who arrived in Kazan to take part in the closing ceremony of the 45th WorldSkills Competition, discussed issues of interregional cooperation between Tatarstan and the Novgorod region.

In particular, Minnikhanov noted that the interregional trade turnover between Tatarstan and the Novgorod region has amounted to about 1.2 billion roubles recently. According to him, this does not correspond to the real scale and economy of the regions. It is necessary to develop relations and increase trade turnover, strengthening cooperation in a number of areas, including in terms of innovations, he continued.

Moreover,  Minnikhanov noted that it is important to cooperate through the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), since this platform is of great interest to the regions today.

ASI is an effective platform for innovation, where every region can bring its own achievements and share best practices, Minnikhanov said.

The meeting also discussed the events held as part of the 45th WorldSkills Competition. According to Minnikhanov, the competition promotes blue-collar jobs, increasing the prestige of professional skills among young people.

Head of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) Svetlana Chupsheva, special representative of the President of Russia on Digital and Technological Development Dmitry Peskov and other officials took part in the meeting.
