Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan is developing cooperation with Rosatom State Corporation in a number of areas

On July 17, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov paid a working visit to the Alabuga Special Economic Zone to take part in a number of events, including the opening of a new plant for the production of building chemicals “TechnoNikol-Alabuga”, a meeting on promising areas of the development of the composite cluster and to hold a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Alabuga SEZ.

Minnikhanov together Director General of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Aleksey Likhachev visited the Alabuga-Volokno plant, which is part of the Rosatom composite division. Alabuga-Volokno is Russia's largest producer of high-tech carbon fiber. As part of composite materials, carbon fiber features unique characteristics that are in demand in various branches of industry.

During their visit to the plant, Minnikhanov and Likhachev got acquainted with the technology of carbon fiber production. The guests were informed that the products correspond to the leading international analogues in terms of quality and price.

Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan is developing cooperation with Rosatom State Corporation in a number of areas. In particular, a lot of work is underway in terms of digitalization and automation processes. “This project is very important for the country. Carbon fiber is used in the development of new materials. Moreover, there is a large enterprise “KAPO-Composite” in Tatarstan, which works for the aviation industry of our country. Also, these materials are necessary for other industrial sectors, including machine tools, automotive and other spheres, ” Tatarstan President said.

Minnikhanov and Likhachyov were handed in hockey sticks made using carbon fiber.

Later on the same day, Tatarstan President visited production sites of the Transneft Sintez plant, which is designed to produce 3,000d tonnes of anti-turbulent additives per year. The official opening of the plant is scheduled for August this year.
