28.06.2019

On June 28, in Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, CEO of Rostec State Corporation Sergey Chemezov, Prime Minister of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin and Director General of KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogogin took part in the opening ceremony of a new line for the production of aluminum fuel tanks at the KAMAZ plant.

The project was launched in 2017 with the assistance of the Industry Development Fund. With a production capacity of 35,000 tankes per year, the new line will make it possible to replace the imported tanks. The universal robotic line is in position to produce fuel tanks with a volume from 260 to 800 liters.

Tatarstan President noted that in the year of the 50th anniversary of the KAMAZ plant, the company is introducing new production facilities. “It is an important day today. An annual general meeting of shareholders of KAMAZ Automaker will be held. We are very pleased that we are holding a meeting amid such large investment projects. These are new engines, cabin frames, and the most modern fuel tanks. This work is being carried out as part of the development of the new generation K5 trucks. I congratulate the plant team on the fact that during this difficult time KAMAZ has achieved such important victories,” Minnikhanov said. He expressed gratitude to the Government of the Russian Federation, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, as well as to Rostec State Corporation for supporting the Naberezhnye Chelny automaker.

In his turn, Chemezov stressed that KAMAZ is modernizing its production facilities at an impressive pace and is the most efficient automaker in Russia today. “The aluminum tanks were imported from abroad quite recently, and today we produce these elements ourselves. The plant uses the latest technology. This line is another step towards modern production, which is being created at the KAMAZ plant,” CEO of Rostec State Corporation added.

The aluminum fuel tanks are installed in commercial vehicles for long-distance, inter-urban and urban transportation. They feature weight reduction, corrosion resistance and fire safety versus a steel fuel tank.
