On June 7, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and members of a delegation from Tatarstan took part in a plenary session of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019. The key topic of the forum is “Creating a Sustainable Development Agenda”.

Opening the plenary session, Russian President Vladimir Putin, who spoke at the event, said that “technically, the global economic growth has been positive. In 2011–2017, the global economy grew by an annual average of 2.8 per cent. This figure was a bit over three percent recently.”

“However, in our opinion, both countries’ leaders and all of us need to frankly admit that unfortunately, despite this growth, the existing model of economic relations is still in crisis and this crisis is of a comprehensive nature,” the President of Russia said.

The forum is held at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 6-8. The structural programme of the forum consists of four thematic blocks, including “Global Economy in Search of a Balance”, “Russian Economy: Achieving National Development Goals”, “Technologies shaping the future”, and “People first”.

Global leaders, heads of major companies, investors and experts – participants of the business programme of the forum are discussing global processes in the economy, the industry of the future, power engineering and new digital technologies. As many as 17,000 people from dozens of countries, including representatives of almost 2,000 companies are taking part in the forum.
