Rustam Minnikhanov meets Young Diplomats of OIC countries

On April 24, on the sidelines of the 11th International Economic Summit “Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit-2019”, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the participants of the conference of Young Diplomats of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Minnikhanov emphasized that cooperation with Muslim countries is one of the key priorities of Russia's foreign policy, which is an observer in the OIC.

Tatarstan President said that up to 25 million Muslims live in Russia today. “The issues of education are significant. It is necessary to train professional imams preaching traditional Islam. Representatives of different nationalities and confessions live in peace and harmony in Russia. And this is a very good experience,” he said.

“On the sidelines of the KazanSummit, an efficient venue has been created for interaction with young diplomats from OIC countries. All of you are promising diplomatic personnel. Much will depend on your position and approaches in the future. Today you bring a lot of useful things to the development of cooperation between Russia and the OIC countries,” Tatarstan President noted.

Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kolpakov said that the Conference of Young Diplomats of the OIC countries is being held for the 4th time. As many as 35 participants from 21 countries are taking part in the event this year.  He proposed the creation of the full-fledged diplomatic club “Friends of Tatarstan” next year, aimed at strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations.

Minnikhanov supported this initiative.
