Rustam Minnikhanov: Big cities like Naberezhnye Chelny should be acknowledged at the All-Russia level

On February 25, speaking at the 30th meeting of the city Council of Naberezhnye Chelny on results of the socio-economic development in 2018 and tasks for 2019, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that in terms of socio-economic indicators and the quality of life Naberezhnye Chelny should look to cities of national importance.

Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Nail Magdeev made a keynote report at the meeting. “I am sure that Naberezhnye Chelny can become a territory of new opportunities and a territory of success,” he said.

Magdeev reminded that 5 of 73 single-industry towns in the country that have received the status of TASED (a territory of advanced socio-economic development) are located in Tatarstan.

The Mayor briefly informed the meeting about the development of the Kama Industrial Park “Master”. There are 287 residents in the park at the moment. The amount of tax revenues is 7.4 billion roubles and the revenue of residents makes 75.8 billion roubles.

He noted that increasing the confidence of businessmen in authorities and a constructive dialogue are among the main tasks the officials are facing today in terms of the development of small and medium-sized businesses.

Magdeev also reported on the construction of social facilities and the overhaul of schools and kindergartens. He continued that nine kindergartens and two schools will be overhauled in the city. At the same time, he stressed that another 14 schools in the city need repair.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov noted, in particular, that “big cities like Naberezhnye Chelny should be acknowledged at least at the All-Russia level”.

“We need to focus on further improving all elements of the quality of life of citizens,” Minnikhanov said.

Tatarstan President also reminded that 2019 is a historic year for Naberezhnye Chelny. In December this year the Kama Automobile Plant will celebrate its 50th anniversary of the start of the construction, he added. 

It is planned to implement a number of projects aimed at developing the city’s social, transport and road infrastructure under the federal and regional programmes, Minnikhanov said.

Chairman of the Council of Municipalities of the republic Ekzam Gubaidullin, representatives of regional ministries and departments took part in the meeting.
