23.02.2019

On February 23, Acting Prime Minister of the republic Rustam Nigmatullin congratulated Tatarstan citizens on Defender of the Fatherland Day.

“Dear Tatarstan citizens! On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, I congratulate you on Defender of the Fatherland Day. Throughout a centuries-long history of our country a warrior, a defender has always inspired deep respect and has been surrounded by care and attention of compatriots. Common roots and destinies, common concerns and interests have been and remain the most reliable ties uniting the people and the army into a whole.

Defender of the Fatherland Day is a great holiday not only for military service men of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, but also for everyone who is a patriot of the country, for whom the concepts of Fatherland, Motherland, and duty have a special meaning.

This holiday is a great tribute to those who have served for the good of the Fatherland, who are serving on station or just preparing to join the Russian army, as well as to all those who achieve prosperity and stability in our state, strengthen the glory and power of the Great Russia, protect our peaceful life by their peaceful labour and martial prowess.

First of all, I would like to congratulate veterans of the World War II who fulfilled their patriotic and internationalist duty with honour during difficult war years. Participants in local wars and conflicts continued their glorious traditions. Today we are proud of young people who are fighting against international terrorism in the Syrian Arab Republic with courage and military prowess.

Tatarstan makes a significant contribution to enhancing the defence capability of the Russian Federation. The high potential of Tatarstan enterprises, being part of the country’s military-industrial complex, allows us to fulfill the most complex defence orders, providing the army and navy with modern armament and equipment.

On this holiday, I wish military service men, their wives, fathers, mothers, children and all citizens of Tatarstan a peaceful sky, good health, success, optimism and confidence in the future”.

Acting Tatarstan Prime Minister Rustam Nigmatullin.
